About The Department

The Department of Basic Science and Humanities forms the cornerstone of engineering education by building a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, while also nurturing communication skills and ethical values essential for professional growth.

The Department of Basic Science and Humanities forms the cornerstone of engineering education by building a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, while also nurturing communication skills and ethical values essential for professional growth.

Mathematics, being fundamental to all branches of science and engineering, is emphasized through applied approaches that equip students with analytical and problem-solving abilities. The department supports learning through advanced mathematical techniques, including areas like operations research, helping students make informed and efficient decisions in technical and professional domains.

The disciplines of physics and chemistry further complement engineering education by connecting theoretical concepts with real-world applications. Physics fosters an understanding of the interplay between scientific principles and engineering problem-solving, while chemistry equips students with essential knowledge of materials and processes relevant to modern engineering practices.

Vision

To transform the department into a centre of excellence for Basic Science and Humanities, through conscious, meaningful, devoted and determined effort of all the stake holders, by synergistic application of creativity, innovation, discipline and social consciousness.

Mission

To prepare the students for direct employment in various engineering related careers, pursuit of higher studies and / or research, or entrepreneurship in the field, by imparting them quality and value based education as per the needs of the society.

Student Activities

Students regularly participate in hands-on activities within the AICTE-IDEA Lab, CDAC Lab (3D Printing) and the IT Project Laboratory, working on entrepreneurial prototypes and emerg ing tech. Industrial visits to partners like SAIL-DSP are organized to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Active Participation Includes:

  • Lab-based Mini Projects
  • Hackathons & Coding Competitions
  • Industrial Visits & Research Internships
